Updates to Classroom Technology

William Frady sent this out for general distribution:

Good morning. I wanted to touch base with each of you and let you know that Educational Technologies, IT, has completed a massive classroom technology upgrade this summer. With this upgrade, we now have over 90 E-Classrooms and demonstration classrooms that function in the same manor. Each room has a control unit on the desktop that controls the functions of the classrooms. Instructors only need one remote control now and that is to control the functions of the DVD/VCR. All rooms are setup identically; the only exception is that not every room may have a document camera. I am attaching the instructions for these rooms. [Ask me if you need a copy -LN] Please pass this info on to others in your area as well as to faculty. We have also installed a laptop connection in each room for instructors to plug-in and use their own laptops. These units now allow us to electronically monitor the projectors in the rooms to know when to change bulbs and to know if the projector has been disconnected/stolen. These new setups are designed to make the rooms easier to use and there should be NO reason for anyone to be changing any connections in the rooms. If anyone has a question or suggestion in these rooms, feel free to contact me. Also, we will be emailing out the new combination list to the E-Classroom doors later this afternoon. Thanks…
A few points from me:
  • This new setup will be very helpful to us all
  • All the classrooms in Killian (except 339) and Reid are done. Many in McKee are done, but I don't know if they are all finished at this time.
  • Except for plugging in your laptop, please do NOT connect/disconnect cables in your classroom. Call the IT help desk for assistance.
  • If there is not an Instruction Sheet in your classroom, let me know and I will bring one to that room and tape it down.
